KIDZ Street-What’s Happenin?

Our first week of KIDZ Street was a great success.  Our kidz learned about the The
Ten Commandments by watching a movie in our “theater,” conducting an experiment in
our “lab.” and playing games.  Over the next five weeks, ask our children to tell you what
they know about The Ten Commandments.

There are still some questions about what’s going on for kidz at FBC on Sunday
mornings. Here are some answers to some FAQs.

What is all this KIDZ business, anyway?  What happened to Sunday School?
We are trying to put a face on our ministry to and with children.  Many of you have seen
a brochure entitled KING’Z KIDZ.  This name is an umbrella for all we do with children
from nursery through 6th grade from VBS to Wednesday nights and everything in
between.

KIDZ Worship is a time for children ages 4-2nd grade to leave the adult service (9:00
A.M. only) and have a time just for them to learn about worship, who does it, how we do
it, and why we do it.  This also allows parents to participate in adult worship more fully.

KIDZ Street is what we used to call Sunday School, but what kid wants to go to school
on Sunday, right?  It is from 10:00 to 10:55, the same time as Bible Study for all other
ages.  It is specifically for ages Kindergarten through 6th grade.  Nursery and Pre-
School have their own design and curriculum.
Where is and what is KIDZ Court?

KIDZ Court is located just under the nursery.  You can access it three ways:  from
Pleasant Street, under the old carport, or from the hallway adjacent to the fellowship
hall (where the soda machine is).  Some may know it as the Old Fellowship Hall.  We are
really trying to create a space for our kids where they feel comfortable and are in the
process of transforming this space into something cool for them.  It is a work in
progress, and we appreciate your help and patience in making this change.

Can my child attend KIDZ Worship during 1st service?
Yes, if they are ages 4-2nd grade.  No, if they are 3rd grade or older.  At some point in
the future, we will accept applications for 5th & 6th graders to be helpers/leaders, but
not right now.  The rationale is that young children learn about worship then as older
children they participate in adult worship to show they can then lead younger children.
Pre-schoolers will be taken upstairs to their Sunday School rooms at the conclusion of
KIDZ Worship.  All other children will remain for KIDZ Street.

When and how does my child leave the service?
Your child can come to the back of the sanctuary at the conclusion of the
offertory/beginning of Kevin’s sermon.  We don’t want to disrupt service and hope that
this can be done smoothly.  An adult will be waiting for them and escort them to KIDZ
COURT.

How do I get my child after KIDZ Street and my Bible Study is over?
For safety concerns, children Kindergarten through 2nd grade must be picked up from
KIDZ Court by an adult.  If a child is 3rd grade and older, they may leave to find their
parent, attend 2nd service, etc.  If you have special circumstances, please let David
Scott know at 350-3953.
